QR-code signin

First enable “QR code sign in” under General > Location settings as shown below:

Navigate to “Manage registered visitors” and add a new registered visitor.

Use the “Invite” button to send an invitation to your registered visitor.

The visitor will receive an email invitation holding vital information and a QR code which can be used to speed up the sign in process.

The visitor will be able to use the QR code by pressing the QR button on the home screen:

Where the scan button is, and why it can be missing

The QR button sits on the welcome screen of the tablet, the screen with “Sign In” and “Sign Out”. It is there as soon as “QR code sign in” is switched on under “Account settings” > “General” > “Location settings”; there is no setting per device for it. Tapping it opens the camera, and the visitor holds the code from their invitation email, their wallet pass or their badge in front of it. The same button signs a visitor out again.

Three things hide it:

• “Skip the main screen and go directly to the visit type selection”, under “Account settings” > “General” > “Advanced settings”. With it on, the tablet never shows the welcome screen, so neither the QR button nor the sign out button nor the contactless code is reachable. Switch it off on a tablet that has to scan codes. • The tablet has not refreshed yet. After switching “QR code sign in” on, tap “Sign In” and “Back” on the tablet so it re-reads the settings.
• The camera points the wrong way. “Camera direction for QR code scanning” in the same advanced settings picks the front or the back camera. On a tablet in a stand the front camera is usually the one facing the visitor.

Do not confuse this button with the contactless QR code that the tablet itself shows. That code is scanned by the visitor’s phone to sign in on the phone, and it is switched on per device. See Sign-in links and QR codes explained for the difference.
