Compatible labels
Vizito prints visitor badges on Brother DK label rolls. This page lists the rolls the app recognises, says which one to buy for a reception desk, and explains what the backoffice shows when a roll is loaded. For the printers themselves, see Compatible labelprinters.
Which roll should I buy?
- DK-22205, 62 mm continuous white adhesive tape, is the usual choice for visitor badges and the one we recommend by default. The printer cuts every badge to the length your template needs, so one roll covers a short badge and a long one.
- DK-11202, 62 x 100 mm die-cut white labels, when you would rather have every badge exactly the same size.
- DK-N55224, 54 mm continuous and non-adhesive, when nothing should stick to a visitor’s clothing. Use it with a badge holder, see below.
- DK-22251, 62 mm continuous in black and red, when the badge design prints something in red. It works on the QL-800, QL-810W and QL-820NWB only, and two-colour printing is slower than black alone.

The tablet reads the roll out of the printer and matches it against this table. Anything here is reported by name in the backoffice; the rolls in bold are the ones that suit a visitor badge.

Rolls of the same size look identical to the printer
The printer reports the size and type of what is loaded, not the exact cartridge number. Every 62 mm continuous roll therefore reads back as 62 mm continuous and is shown as DK-22205, whichever of these you actually loaded:

They all print. The name in the backoffice is simply the roll that stands for that size. The same goes for 29 mm: a roll of DK-22211 film reads back as DK-22210.
What the backoffice shows
Once a kiosk has selected a printer, “Account settings” > “Devices” lists it under “Printers” with a “Loaded label roll” line, for example “62 mm continuous (DK-22205)”, and a “checked” timestamp. Three other answers can appear there:
- “Printer could not be reached”: the printer is off, out of range or on another network. See Network requirements.
- “No label roll detected”: the roll is missing or the cover is open.
- “Label roll not recognised”: something is loaded that the printer cannot identify, usually a third-party roll without the Brother end-of-roll marking.
“Label type” follows the roll automatically: the hint under it reads “The label type follows the roll that is loaded in the printer. A manual change here is overwritten the next time the tablet reads the printer.” So you change the roll and the setting catches up by itself; there is nothing to set by hand.
Which rolls a badge design can target
In the badge designer, “Roll” offers the two rolls a design can be laid out for: 62 mm continuous white (DK-22205) and 62 mm continuous black/red (DK-22251). The design is compiled for both, and the kiosk prints the variant matching the roll that is actually loaded in its printer. Badges made with the older editor keep a fixed width and height in pixels instead. See Badge template configuration.
Red only prints on a black/red roll. On any other roll a red element comes out black.
Non-adhesive labels and badge holders
Sites that do not want anything sticking to clothing print on DK-N55224, a 54 mm non-adhesive continuous roll, and slide the badge into a holder with a clip. Any holder that takes a strip about 54 mm wide works, for instance the Avery badge holder with clip.
Brother also sells removable adhesive rolls, DK-44205 in white and DK-44605 in yellow, which peel off more easily than DK-22205.
Disclaimer: these labels are less adhesive than DK-22205. For use on clothing we generally recommend DK-22205 or a holder. We do not accept liability for any damage to clothing.
Tapes and rolls that are not for badges
- TZe tapes belong to P-touch labelling machines, not to the QL badge printers. A P-touch connected to the tablet reads back as a tape width, and Vizito does not print badges on it.
- RD rolls belong to the Brother TD series, which we do not support for badge printing.
The supported printers are the Brother QL models listed in Compatible labelprinters. On a Windows browser kiosk the picture is different: there Vizito hands the badge to Windows, so any printer with a Windows driver and any media it supports can be used.
