Browser-based kiosk

You can run the Vizito kiosk in Google Chrome on a touchscreen PC instead of on a tablet. First pair the browser with your Vizito account, then start Chrome in kiosk mode so visitors only ever see the sign-in screen. This guide uses a Windows 11 PC as the example.

Install Chrome and pair the kiosk

The kiosk shows a device token of six characters, and that token is only valid for about a minute. Open the backoffice first, so you can enter the token as soon as the kiosk shows it.

  1. Install Google Chrome. If you don’t have Google Chrome installed on your computer, download it here and install it.

  2. Open vizito.be/activate in Chrome and sign in. Vizito opens Account settings > Devices with the Add a device dialog ready for you. If you are already signed in to the backoffice, go to Account settings > Devices and click Add a device yourself.

  3. Open a second Chrome tab, go to https://frontoffice.vizito.be/ and click on “I have a Vizito account”.

  4. Note the six-character device token. The line underneath counts down how long it stays valid.

  5. Switch back to the backoffice tab, enter the token in the Device token field and click the green Add a device button. The PC is only linked once you have clicked that button.

If the token runs out before you have entered it, the kiosk tab replaces it with “Token expired, try again by clicking on the button below.” Click Try again to get a fresh token.

Your PC now appears as a card under Account settings > Devices, showing its platform, its Vizito version and a Since timestamp. A browser kiosk starts without a name, so click Edit on the card, fill in Device name in the Device configuration dialog and click Save. The same dialog holds this device’s entry point, visit types and welcome screen buttons.

Enabling Kiosk Mode

  1. Create a copy of the Chrome Shortcut on your desktop.

  2. Right-click the copied shortcut and click on “Properties”

  3. In the target field, add the following text to the end, after a space: --kiosk-printing --kiosk "https://frontoffice.vizito.be/".

    If you do not intend to print visitor badges, you can omit --kiosk-printing. For more information on how to set up badge printing, refer to our help center article Chrome Badge Printing.

  4. Optionally, you can rename your shortcut in the ‘General’ tab and select a different icon in the ‘Shortcut’ tab using the ‘Change Icon’ button.

Background Printing without Full Kiosk Mode

If you prefer to not be locked into Kiosk Mode and want to toggle full-screen on and off using the F11 key, follow the same steps as above, but in step 3 of “Enabling Kiosk Mode”, do not include the flag --kiosk. Instead, use only --kiosk-printing. This will enable silent/background printing without forcing full-screen mode.
