# Visit types

In this article

A visit type is a separate sign-in flow. Contractors can be asked to accept a safety agreement, deliveries can skip the host notification, and employees can sign in with only a name. Your account starts with a single visit type called “Visitor”, and you can add as many as you need.

## Add a visit type

1. Go to the [Vizito backoffice](https://backoffice.vizito.be/) and select “Account settings” > “Visit types” in the left menu.
2. Click “Add visit type”.
3. Enter a name. To start from an existing flow instead of an empty one, pick it under “Clone configuration from”.
4. Click “Add visit type” to save.

## Manage your visit types

The overview lists every visit type in your account. “Active in app” controls whether visitors can pick that type on the tablet, so you can switch a flow off without deleting it and losing its configuration. Drag the handle on the left to change the order visitors see.

Click “Edit” to configure a visit type.

## What visitors see

When more than one visit type is active, the Vizito app asks arriving visitors to choose one before it shows any fields.

Each visit type then shows its own fields, agreements and settings.

## Configure a visit type

Every visit type is configured on its own set of tabs.

### General

Change the visit type name and the welcome and signed out messages. This tab also controls whether the “New visitor” and “Registered visitor” tabs appear in the app, and whether the visitor satisfaction survey, group sign in and automatic signout are enabled.

### Sign-in fields

Choose which fields this visit type asks for, and whether each one is mandatory, optional, hidden or inactive. See [Sign-in field configuration](https://vizito.eu/faq/general/sign-in-fields/) for what each field type does.

### Legal

Enable the signature feature and set it to mandatory or optional. Agreements that visitors have to read or sign are configured under [Agreements](https://vizito.eu/faq/general/agreements/).

### Badge

The Badge tab has three sections.

- “Printing”: turn on “Print on sign in” to have the kiosk print a badge when a visitor finishes signing in, and “Print from backoffice” to let your staff print or reprint a badge from the visitor list.
- “Badge”: “Badge template” shows the badge this visit type prints as a card, with a preview, its name, type and size. Click “Edit” to change it. “Choose a template” starts again from a ready-made design, “Use badge from…” reuses the badge of another visit type, “Test print via kiosk” sends a test badge to a kiosk with a printer, and “Remove badge” stops this visit type from printing one.
- “Printer”: set “Print orientation” to “Landscape” or “Portrait”. For a badge made in the badge designer the orientation is part of the design, so you cannot change it here.

If the visit type has no badge yet, you see “No badge for this visit type yet” instead of the card, with “Choose a template” and “Design from scratch” to create one. The two print switches stay locked until the visit type has a badge.

See [Badge designer](https://vizito.eu/faq/badge-printing/badge-designer/) for designing a badge, and [HTML editor](https://vizito.eu/faq/badge-printing/badge-designer/#html-editor) for a badge of the type “HTML template”.

### Photo

Enable taking a visitor photo during sign-in.

### Notifications

Configure the email your visitor receives after signing out.
