SwipedOn’s new Terms of Service let it move customers to a replacement platform without a right to cancel or a refund. Here is what changed, what to check before your renewal and how to move to another visitor management system.

On 5 October 2026, SwipedOn’s updated Terms of Service took effect. Most customers will have skimmed past the notification. One new clause deserves a closer read, though: it allows SwipedOn to move your account onto a different platform, and it removes the usual ways out if you do not like where you end up.
SwipedOn has been part of Sign In App since 2024. The swipedon.com pricing and blog pages already redirect to signinapp.com, and a combined platform is in development. The new terms put the legal groundwork in place for moving SwipedOn customers onto it.
If you run your reception on SwipedOn, this article explains what changed, what it means for your contract and how to compare your options before a migration is decided for you. If you conclude that switching visitor management system (VMS) is the right call, we also cover how to do it with as little disruption as possible.
In this article:
SwipedOn published a summary of the changes on its own website. The key points:
The data protection commitments in your agreement continue to apply to the Replacement Service.
Nothing changes overnight. Your kiosk still works tomorrow and SwipedOn has not announced a shutdown date. But the new terms shift the balance of your contract in a few concrete ways.
“Substantially equivalent Material Functionality” leaves room for interpretation. The sign-in flow, the backoffice, the badge layout and the integrations you set up may all look and work differently on the Replacement Service. Your receptionist and your hosts will have to learn a new system, whether you chose it or not.
Under the old assumptions, a forced change of product would be a natural moment to renegotiate or walk away. The new terms close that door: the subscription term continues, there is no right to cancel and no refund or credit. If you signed a multi-year deal, you are committed to whatever platform you are moved to for the rest of that term.
Cooperating with activation, configuration and data migration means time from your office manager, IT and reception staff. The terms limit “material incremental out-of-pocket costs”, but internal hours are not out-of-pocket costs.
Data protection commitments carry over to the Replacement Service. Still, a new platform can mean new infrastructure, new sub-processors and possibly a different hosting region. If your organization has rules on where visitor data may be stored, check this before the move, not after. Our visitor management data residency checklist helps you ask the right questions.
Not automatically. Consolidation in the visitor management market is common, and the combined Sign In App platform may suit you well. Sign In App is a capable product with unlimited sign-ins, employee sign-in, delivery logging and desk booking. If your reception relies on those, moving within the group is probably the smoother path.
The new terms are, however, a good reason to make that decision yourself rather than have it made for you. The best moment is before your next renewal, while you can still choose not to sign another term.
Switching to a different visitor management system makes sense when:

Whatever you decide, send these questions to SwipedOn in writing and keep the answers with your contract:
Ask any alternative supplier the same questions about its own roadmap. A supplier that cannot answer them clearly is telling you something.

Switching visitor management system is a configuration exercise rather than a large IT project. Here is how most teams move from SwipedOn to Vizito.
Find your renewal date and notice period. Plan the switch so the new system is live before your SwipedOn term ends, with a short overlap.
Export your visitor records from SwipedOn and archive them according to your retention policy. You may need them for audits, incident investigations or GDPR requests. Starting the new system with a clean slate also lets you apply fresh retention rules from day one.
In Vizito, you configure your branding, visit types, the questions you actually need, agreements and NDAs, safety instructions and your badge layout. Hosts can be imported from a spreadsheet, or synchronized from Microsoft Entra ID or Google Workspace on the Enterprise plan. Host notifications go out by email, SMS, Microsoft Teams or Slack.
The iPads or Android tablets at your reception keep working, and so do Brother QL network label printers. There is no proprietary hardware to buy.

Most teams configure Vizito in an afternoon, test it with a few colleagues and switch the kiosk over after hours. The next morning, visitors sign in on the new system.
SwipedOn’s new Terms of Service do not mean your reception stops working. They do mean that SwipedOn can move you to a different platform during your subscription, without a right to cancel or a refund, and that your team will be asked to help with the migration.
That makes your next renewal the moment to decide. Ask SwipedOn the five questions above, compare the answers with the alternatives, and choose the system you want to run your reception on for the next few years.
Vizito is an independent, ISO 27001 certified visitor management system from Belgium, hosted in the EU, with no merger or platform migration in its future. See how we compare in Vizito vs SwipedOn.
