Vizito vs MRI OnLocation

People presence management, or visitor management

MRI OnLocation, formerly WhosOnLocation, tracks visitors, contractors and employees across sites, with inductions, ban rules and evacuation management, as part of MRI Software. Vizito is a dedicated visitor management system with a published price from EUR 29.95 per site per month. The difference is whether contractors and staff are part of your problem.

What each product actually is

Both are mature and both do visitors well. They disagree about how much else belongs in the same system.

Vizito

Vizito is a visitor management system: visitors, contractors and drivers signing in and out, with per visit type flows, agreements as text, PDF or induction video with a captured signature, host approval, badge printing, an emergency overview, retention rules and 31 languages. It is ISO 27001 certified, hosted in the EU, published at EUR 29.95 to EUR 99 per location per month, and set up without help.

MRI OnLocation

MRI OnLocation calls its category people presence management: visitors, contractors and employees tracked across a property portfolio, with contractor inductions and compliance, ban rules, employee presence and time, desk booking, a mobile app, contact tracing and evacuation management. It is ISO 27001 certified, used in more than fifty countries, and sold as part of MRI Software, a large real estate technology group. Pricing is not published on MRI’s own site.

Which one is right for you?

The deciding question is whether contractors and employees need to be in the same system as visitors.

Vizito is probably the better fit if...

  • Visitors and the occasional contractor are the whole scope, and staff attendance is handled by HR systems already.
  • You want the price on a page and a trial you can start yourself, today.
  • Your data belongs in the EU by default, and ISO 27001 is what your security review asks for.
  • You want the whole feature set on the entry plan rather than a tier that matches your sign-in volume.
  • Your visitors speak many languages: the sign-in flow runs in 31.

MRI OnLocation is probably the better fit if...

  • Contractors are a compliance problem: inductions, competencies and expiry dates that must be checked before somebody is allowed on site.
  • You need employee presence and time as well as visitors, in one system.
  • You need ban rules that automatically flag or block a named person.
  • You already run MRI Software for property or facilities and want one supplier.
  • You need hosting or support outside the EU, across a global portfolio.

If the words “induction”, “competency” or “permit to work” appear in your requirements, that is a contractor management problem and MRI OnLocation is built for it in a way Vizito is not.

Where Vizito is the stronger choice

A price you can read and a trial you can start

A price you can read and a trial you can start

Vizito publishes EUR 29.95, EUR 59 and EUR 99 per location per month, with a 14-day trial of every feature and no credit card. MRI does not publish OnLocation pricing on its own site, so a comparison needs a quote. For a small facilities team, that difference alone often decides the shortlist.

EU hosting by default

EU hosting by default

Every Vizito account is hosted in the European Union under an ISO 27001 certified management system, with a signed DPA, consent capture, configurable retention and automatic anonymisation. There is no region to specify and no route by which a site ends up hosted elsewhere.

Everything at the desk on every plan

Everything at the desk on every plan

Badge printing, agreements with signature, induction video, pre-registration, contactless sign-in, host approval, evacuation overview and satisfaction surveys are in all three Vizito plans. What changes between them is visit volume, support level and identity integrations.

Where MRI OnLocation is stronger

OnLocation has been solving a wider problem than ours for a long time, and it shows in the places that matter to industrial and public sector sites.

Contractors as a compliance register

Inductions, competencies and expiry dates held against a contractor, checked before entry. Vizito can require a safety agreement and an induction video and can hold a visitor for host approval, but it does not keep a credential register or block somebody whose certificate has lapsed.

Ban rules

A named person can be flagged or blocked automatically. Vizito has no equivalent at any price.

Employees as well as visitors

Employee presence, time and a staff mobile app mean one system knows who is on site, staff included. Vizito only knows about people who sign in at the door.

Global reach and a wider suite

Use across more than fifty countries, regional hosting and the rest of MRI Software behind it for property and facilities. Vizito hosts in the EU and does one thing.

If your requirement list is really a health and safety register that happens to include visitors, buy the register. Ours is the wrong shape for that job.

How Vizito gets better: you ask, we ship

One difference that no feature table captures: how quickly a request turns into a change. Vizito is built by a small European team that answers its own support chat, so what you ask for reaches the person who owns that part of the product instead of an account manager.

Your request reaches the people who build it

Support, product and development sit together. When you describe something that does not work at your front desk, it is logged against the actual feature rather than dropped into a suggestion box, and you get told whether it is a quick fix, a roadmap item or a no.

Small changes ship in weeks, not roadmap quarters

An extra field on a visit type, a wording change in an invitation mail, a badge layout that fits your label stock. Those small differences decide whether a system fits your reception or almost fits it, and they are exactly the changes we turn around quickly.

You can read exactly what changed

Every release is written up in plain language for the people who use Vizito daily: what changed on the tablet, what changed in the backoffice, and what it means for you. No ticket numbers, no marketing.

Contractors

What Vizito can do for contractors, and where it stops

Contractors can have their own visit type in Vizito, with their own fields, their own safety agreement as text, PDF or induction video, a signature captured at sign-in, questions they must answer again on every visit rather than once, their own badge design, their own host notification, and a screening step where somebody must approve them before they go past reception. That covers a great many sites. What Vizito does not do is hold a register of certificates with expiry dates and refuse entry when one lapses. If that is your obligation, MRI OnLocation does it and we do not.

Contractors

Contractor sign-in in Vizito

Its own flow

Separate visit type with separate fields, agreements, badge and notifications from ordinary visitors.

Ask again every time

Safety questions can be marked so returning contractors must answer them on every single visit.

Approval before entry

Screening holds the visit as pending until a host or a security mailbox approves or rejects it.

Hosting and cost

Published pricing and one data region

Vizito publishes its pricing and hosts every customer in the European Union. That combination makes the early part of a procurement process short: the price goes into the budget without a call, and the data protection question has a one-sentence answer. MRI OnLocation does not publish visitor pricing on its own site, and MRI operates globally, which is exactly what a multinational wants and exactly what a single-country buyer usually does not need to pay for.

Hosting and cost

What that saves you

No discovery call to get a number

Three plans, published, with a 16% discount on yearly billing.

One answer on data location

EU hosting for every account, with an ISO 27001 certificate and a signed DPA ready to send.

A trial you start yourself

Fourteen days, every feature, no credit card, 25 SMS notifications included for testing host alerts.

People presence versus visitor management

MRI OnLocation deliberately does not call itself a visitor management system. Its category is people presence management, and that phrase is the whole comparison: it wants to know where everybody is, employees and contractors included, and it carries the compliance apparatus that goes with that ambition.

Vizito only knows about people who sign in at a door. For an office, a school, a clinic, a warehouse or a professional services firm, that is precisely the scope of the problem and the extra apparatus would go unused. For a utility, a manufacturer or a council with contractor permits and staff presence obligations, the extra apparatus is the reason to buy.

How to tell which one you are

Read your own requirements document and count the nouns. If it says visitors, badges, hosts, agreements and evacuation, you have a visitor management problem. If it says contractors, competencies, inductions, permits, expiries and employee presence, you have a compliance problem that includes visitors. The second list is not more advanced than the first, it is a different job, and buying the wrong shape of product for it is more expensive than either licence.

What switching involves

Moving to Vizito from OnLocation is mostly configuration. Export your history for your retention obligation, rebuild visit types and agreements, import hosts from a spreadsheet or synchronise them from Microsoft Entra ID or Google Workspace, and install the app on tablets you already own. Where teams get stuck is the contractor register: if you have been using OnLocation to hold competencies and expiry dates, there is nowhere in Vizito to put them, and that has to be solved before the cutover rather than after.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is MRI OnLocation the same as WhosOnLocation?

Yes. WhosOnLocation was acquired by MRI Software and now sells as MRI OnLocation, part of MRI’s property and facilities technology portfolio. Review sites and older comparison pages still use both names.

  • Is Vizito a good alternative to MRI OnLocation?

For visitor management specifically, yes: pre-registration, contactless sign-in, badge printing, agreements and induction videos with signature, host approval, emergency evacuation overview, multi-site management and directory sync, at a published EUR 29.95 to EUR 99 per location per month with EU hosting and ISO 27001. For contractor compliance registers, ban rules, employee presence and time, or desk booking, it is not an alternative because Vizito does not do those things.

  • When should I choose MRI OnLocation over Vizito?

Choose MRI OnLocation if contractors need inductions and competencies tracked with expiry dates, if you need ban rules that automatically flag a named person, if employee presence or time belongs in the same system, if you need desk booking, or if you need hosting and support outside the EU. Those are all real gaps on our side.

  • How does the pricing compare?

Vizito publishes EUR 29.95 for Standard, EUR 59 for Pro and EUR 99 for Enterprise per location per month, with 16% off on yearly billing. MRI does not publish OnLocation pricing on its own site; third-party listings quote tiers based on annual sign-in volume, so the only reliable comparison is a quote from MRI against our published price for your number of sites.

  • Can Vizito produce an evacuation list?

Yes. The emergency overview shows everyone currently signed in at a location, including visitors who signed in through a QR code at a side entrance, and alerts can be sent to on-site people. It is included on every plan. What it covers is people who signed in; staff who never sign in do not appear, which is one of the reasons some sites prefer a people presence system that tracks employees too.

  • Does Vizito handle contractor inductions?

Partly. Contractors can get their own visit type with a safety agreement or induction video that must be accepted and signed on every visit, plus host approval before entry. What Vizito does not have is a register of certificates and competencies with expiry dates that blocks entry when one runs out. If you need that, MRI OnLocation and FacilityOS both provide it.
